In coastal flood defence applications AquaDams are
stored close to their position of intended
deployment together with pumps and pipework.
When a flood event is anticipated the dams are
deployed. Once the flood has passed the dam is
recovered and made ready for the next flood event.
AquaDam can be supplied in lengths up to 1000ft/300m. Depending upon dam size selected, shorter, more managable lengths, between 10 and 30m are often preferrable. These lengths are joined with collars. Such an arrangement permits small deployment teams with man-handleable sized dams to install quite lenghty flood barriers quickly.
Remember, the heavy installation work is done by the water pumps!

Self Help Tidal Flood Protection for Communities
Because AquaDam is inexpensive, temporary and relatively straight forward to use it lends itself well to community self help flood protection.
The dams don't require planning permission, can be deployed by most able bodied people with a few minutes of training (available at the click of a mouse). Ideally, communities organise themselves into deployment teams prepared to turn out at an agreed signal when flooding is imminent.
